Big Triceps for Bigger Arms

We all wish to have big arms. This is the first thing that someone notices on a bodybuilder.

It is common to focus our workout on the biceps in order to grow bigger arms. Nevertheless, what most bodybuilders fail to understand is that big arms are a combination of trained biceps and triceps.

The triceps muscles cover about 60% of the whole arm. That means that if you aim to grow bigger arms you have to try harder with your triceps training, not meaning of course that you should neglect your biceps. Just divide the training time for your arms equally.

There are many training methods to build bigger arms. Super-sets workout is one of them.

We call super-sets the training system where two opposite muscle groups (chest-back, triceps-biceps) are being trained altered. For example, when you finish your biceps set you jump directly into the triceps set without resting or the other way around. Using this arm workout method you obtain a maximum blood stream inside the whole arm muscle, resulting in optimal arm growth. Especially for those who follow a 5-day workout routine, training solely one muscle part a day, doing super-sets can also be a great time saver.

Another workout that has proven to be great for me and will certainly help you to grow bigger arms is drop-down sets. You start your first biceps or triceps set with a full weight load. You must estimate to manage about eight reps using this weight. As soon as you feel that you are on the verge of exhaustion, you drop the weights and grab yourself a lighter one continuing without resting. You do this once more with an even lighter weight. You should do this with both biceps and triceps inside the same workout. If you are advanced you can try to combine super-sets with drop-sets. The muscle pump you are going to experience after performing this specific method will be awesome.

A third factor you should focus on, is trying to isolate your biceps and triceps while working out. There are certain types of arm exercises, where other muscle parts get involved, like shoulder or chest. This issue is completely up to you to solve it. You shouldn't do the exercise mechanically just to get it done. Keep your mind inside the muscle the moment it is contracting and try to perform the reps without "stealing" or using a neighbor muscle to assist you. It is preferable to use a lighter weight and isolate your biceps and triceps as much as you can than trying to load heavy weights and fail to do the exercise properly.

As a conclusion we might say that in order to build bigger arms you have to keep in mind that the arm muscle consists mainly of the triceps. So, working only the biceps is not sufficient. Furthermore, you can try to experiment with different training methods like the ones mentioned above to find the best that suit you.

Keep those muscles pumping!
